The Grand Enchantment Trail's eastern terminus lies at the start of the Tramway Trail, a locally popular connector trail between the Sandia Peak Aerial Tram and La Luz Trail. This trailhead is well-marked and easy to identify at the edge of the Sandia Tram parking lot. Water, vending machines, and rest rooms are located in the nearby Tram Station building, along with a gift shop. City taxi companies and rideshare services will pick you up here or drop you off, although you might need to walk through the parking lot and down the entrance road below the pay booth.

To reach the airport from the Tram building (about 20-25 miles away), head west 1 mile on Tramway Rd. Turn south on Tramway Blvd and continue ~9 miles to Central Ave at I-40 interchange. Here are franchise motels and restaurants, 2 full-service grocery stores, laundromat, and a movie theatre. Take I-40 west to I-25 south and follow signs to Albuquerque International Sunport. (Another transportation option, city bus route 66 runs throughout the day between Central Ave at Tramway Blvd and downtown, from which a connecting bus route continues to the airport.)
